We are proud to present our story about this very special Porsche 911 2.7 RS project. Originally delivered as an M471 “Lightweight” version, and moreover, one of the very first examples from the initial production series. It is said that this RS has covered only 16,500 km since new, almost exclusively during races between 1972 and 1974. In 1975, the RS was stored by its owner in a dry barn in France. We were given the wonderful assignment by the new owner, who purchased the car, to collect the RS from its storage in France. Our technical team took on this special task and retrieved the RS in October 2024 — after 49 years in storage. What followed was the challenge of preserving the RS as best as possible while overhauling its entire mechanical system. No effort or expense was spared to completely rebuild the RS and bring it to perfect technical condition — yet without restoring it. Preserving as many original parts as possible was the main goal. The entire engine, gearbox, front and rear suspension, fuel system, brake system, pedals, electrics, and general bodywork were fully overhauled. The result is a 2.7 RS that is technically 100% sound. The underside and technical components were dry-ice blasted, and minor improvements to the bodywork were carried out. The body is in excellent condition, with no noteworthy rust, and remains largely original.
